In the recently published "Microsoft Surface: Zune 2.0, or a return to past greatness?" I discussed Microsoft's recently announced mobile computers relative to both Windows 8-based platforms from historical Microsoft hardware partners, and to systems running alternative operating systems such as Apple's iOS and Mac OS X, and Google's Android and Chrome OS. At the end of it, I wrote:
