OCP-IP's mission is to drive the OCP to become the most widely used and adopted socket interface for SoC design. In addition to this goal we take pride in our leadership role throughout the industry, not only in the area of the OCP socket and plug and play SoC design methodology, but also in providing the industry with information regarding the value of standards in general. I frequently receive questions from both members and non-members alike about the various roles played in the industry by the multiple existing standards organizations: why companies often need to be members of several organizations rather than just one, how these organizations collaborate, their differences in focus areas, etc. To help dispel some of the existing confusion, we are pleased to announce we have unveiled a groundbreaking Industry Associations Comparison Chart on the OCP-IP Web site. This first-of-its-kind chart is a snapshot of the industry and allows viewers to see information from many groups side-by-side to compare and contrast their diverse areas of focus and benefits of membership. It includes summary information kindly contributed by: Accellera, European Electronic Chips and Systems Design Initiative (ECSI), EDA Consortium (EDAC), Nexus 5001 Consortium, Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP), Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), and the SPIRIT Consortium and is available at www.ocpip.org/pressroom/trade_organization_data. Over the last several years, we have seen a
tremendous amount of adoption and implementation of the OCP
protocol. To illustrate this extensive industry-wide adoption we
have begun developing a web page showing numerous consumer products
utilizing OCP in their design. If your company has an end product
leveraging OCP in the design that they would like to have highlighted,
please contact admin@ocpip.org. I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our members who have contributed to this newsletter with updates and technical articles. If you are an OCP-IP member and would like to contribute a technical article for an upcoming edition of the newsletter, please contact admin@ocpip.org. Regards,Ian R. Mackintosh Chairman and President, OCP-IP |
