Chipidea Achieves Industry's First USB High Speed PHY Certification in TSMC 65nm Technology
Update: MIPS Technologies Acquires Chipidea (August 27, 2007)
Benchmark Assures PHY Quality for Small Area, Low Cost SoC IntegrationOPorto, Portugal - Dec. 5th, 2006 - Chipidea®, the world's leading provider of analog/mixed-signal silicon intellectual property, today announced it is the first company in the market to achieve USB High Speed certification for its physical layer IP on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's 65 nanometer process technology.
The certification was achieved through the USB Implementers Forum Inc., a non-profit corporation founded by a group of companies that developed the Universal Serial Bus specification.
The USB HS Certification offers quality assurance to System-on-Chip (SoC) designers who integrate Chipidea's USB PHY IP into their 65nm designs. Chipidea's USB PHY IP's exceptionally compact size offers the lowest integration cost in the industry and the industry's lowest power consumption, less than 80mW. It also provides new features over previous generations like charger detection and programmability of key high speed parameters like amplitude, rise/fall times and slope.
"By extending our IP portfolio successfully into the most advanced process technology we are able to offer the best USB solution in the industry", said Luís Miguel Sampaio, Vice President of IP Connectivity Solutions of Chipidea. "USB Certification assures SOC designers all over the world that they have the best IP solution ready for integration in the most advanced technology".
