Arteris FlexNoC Interconnect IP is Licensed by SK Hynix for Solid State Storage Device (SSD) Controllers
Semiconductor IP delivers best power consumption, unsurpassed ease-of-use, and shorter design schedules
CAMPBELL, Calif. — November 13 2015 -- Arteris Inc., the inventor and only supplier of silicon-proven commercial network-on-chip (NoC) interconnect IP solutions, today announced that SK Hynix, Inc., has licensed Arteris FlexNoC IP for use in its solid state memory storage products, including SSD controllers.
The SK Hynix SSD controller development team chose Arteris FlexNoC IP because of its low power consumption and excellent ease-of-use, which allows their teams to work more efficiently and reduces their design time. FlexNoC’s GUI-based FlexExplorer simulation component allowed the team to quickly optimize candidate SoC architectures for their stringent power consumption, latency and bandwidth requirements. Furthermore, the elegant power management and control features empowered the SSD team to effortlessly implement power and clock domains inside the interconnect rather than just at the edges.
In addition, the SK Hynix team was able to meet their bandwidth and latency requirements using Arteris FlexNoC’s thorough implementation of multi-channel DDR memory interleaving and reorder buffering.
“We are excited that SK Hynix has placed their trust in Arteris IP to enable the on-chip communications in their most important solid state memory storage products,” said K. Charles Janac, President and CEO of Arteris. “We look forward to helping the SK Hynix team accelerate design schedules for their most power- and performance-sensitive systems-on-chip.”
