10 Gigabit to 1 Gigabit Ethernet Converter for XAUI20 (XG2G20)
The XG2G20 wrapper allows a 10 Gigabit Ethernet MAC to operate at 1000 and 100 Mb/s data rates in addition to 10 Gb/s. Using the XG2G20 a 10G Ethernet MAC, clocked at 15.625MHz, can be connected to the Cadence XAUI20 configured for gigabit operation clocked at 62.5MHz. The XG2G20 performs all the conversions required to map XGMII signalling into double data width GMII signalling and vice versa.
Features
Converts between XGMII and GMII interfaces to allow a 10 Gigabit Ethernet MAC to operate in a Gigabit environment
Converts between XGMII and MII interfaces to allow a 10 Gigabit Ethernet MAC to operate in a 10/100M environment
Interfaces to de-multiplexed IEEE802.3 XGMII (uses 64 bit wide data sampled on single clock edge rather than 32 bit wide data sampled on both edges of the clock)
Interfaces to double data width GMII clocked at 62.5MHz as provided by the Cadence XAUI20 IP core when configured for gigabit operation
Supports gigabit operation through 1000BASE-X or SGMII when connected to the Cadence XAUI20 IP core
Supports 100 Megabit SGMII operation (where every data byte is repeated ten times) when used in conjunction with the Cadence XAUI20 IP core
Supports transport of 802.3az (EEE) low power idle indication
