Dynamically Reconfigurable Digital Signal Processing Tile Processor
Recore’s Montium® Tile Processor (TP) is a dynamically reconfigurable IP core for computation intensive DSP algorithms. The Montium is typically used in (heterogeneous) multi-core systems. The Montium is also applied as a dedicated DSP accelerator for general purpose processors. The Montium TP obtains significant lower energy consumption than conventional DSPs.
ASIC-like performance and energy-efficiency is obtained by dynamically configuring the Montium with the functionality required by the algorithm at hand. A configuration can switch practically instantly enabling efficient hardware reuse at run-time and reducing silicon costs. The Montium can be reconfigured virtually instantly between e.g. Viterbi, DCT, FFT/IFFT, FIR filtering, etc, as the size of the configuration binaries is very small. The silicon costs remain low, due to a very small silicon footprint.
Recore Systems provides reusable algorithm and applications libraries for Montium based platforms. Applications can also be developed using the Montium Sensation Suite is the integrated development environment (IDE). This comprehensive IDE is based on the Eclipse development platform and includes compilers, simulators, debuggers and editors. The Sensation Suite is also fully compatible with the Montium hardware development board.
