Teaching Graphics?
The world is going mobile, but is your graphics course still stuck on the desktop or console?
Here’s a new approach to teaching Graphics to undergraduate students that comprehends the evolving world of Mobile Graphics….
What is it about?
This workshop will present to you a course designed to introduce real-time rendering on mobile devices to students who have little or no prior experience with 3D graphics programming.
Who is hosting?
The Imagination University Programme (‘IUP’) is aiming at bringing the leading-edge technologies in the industry into the classroom.
We have 26 years’ experience of helping teachers around the world so let us empower you to use our technologies in your teaching labs and student projects!
We work with a group of key partners to provide best-in-class training, hardware & software tools.
The course materials were developed by Darren McKie, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Lectuer at Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Hull.
What will you learn?
You will learn how to engineer, code and optimise rendering applications, enabling you to create games that can do many things, whilst enabling users to play games for longer periods through lower power consumption.
Workshop Indicative Content:
• Welcome & Introduction to the Imagination University Programme (“IUP”)
• Lectures: Introduction to mobile graphics technologies, Basics of the PowerVR Framework, Introduction to mobile graphics architectures, Introduction to mobile graphics SDKs and forums, and Texturing
• Labs: Running a simple triangle graphics program with PowerVR, Hands on with the SDK framework
• Demo: Demo of some of lab material running on the Beaglebone© Black
• Wrap-up / Q&A
After your day of training you will have a good understanding of the specific
requirements of mobile graphics and good overview of the teaching materials to
integrate this topic into your computer graphics curriculum.
All delegates will be given access to the lecture slides and course notes, programming exercises and solutions as well as example exam questions and answers
