STA Forum, A SNIA Technology Community

STA Forum

A forum within SNIA to promote the use and understanding of SCSI and Serial Attached SCSI technology

About Us

Originally established as the SCSI Trade Association (STA) in 1996, just as SCSI has evolved to become SAS, the STA has evolved to become SNIA STA Forum. As a SNIA technology community, STA Forum increases collaboration, standardization, education and marketing outreach, and continues to drive innovation and progress. STA Forum carries on its existing relationship with the T10 standards organization (INCITS/SCSI) in the development of marketing requirements for the industry.

Our Mission

  • To promote the understanding and use of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology and to influence the evolution of SCSI standards to meet future industry needs.

Our scope

  • Communicate the benefits of SAS and SCSI to the industry
  • Maintain and update the SAS technology roadmap to drive R&D and funding
  • Identify SAS marketing requirements and provide the forum to reach a consensus on features and benefits of the technology to T10 committee for standards development
