TSMC in talks to build fab in Dresden

The talks are said to be about whether the suppliers would make the investments to support the fab.

Next year, negotiations will start about the level of government subsidies, which might be available for such a plant.

If successful, it is thought that construction could begin in 2024.

It is is said that the fab would run 22nm and 28nm processes aimed principally at the automotive industry.

TSMC’s EMEA customers account for 6% of its business.
