Electronic devices are everywhere and impinge on the lives of 21st Century citizens all day, every day. The technology behind modern electronics is incredibly complex and fast moving, but, ultimately, the functionality of all these devices relies on software - embedded software. In this keynote talk, the scope of embedded software is considered in detail by deconstructing a typical embedded device and looking at how each aspect of its functionality is implemented.
