Challenges in delivering sub-System IP
By Chakra Parvathaneni,
V.P. Marketing,
Posedge Inc.
Overview:
Posedge's IP portfolio has Sub-System IP is like Wireless LAN
(802.11n), routing/switching IP and SSD controller. And Posedge has
extensive experience in delivery and deploying these solutions in
various SoCs. Based on our experience it is clear that Sub-System IP
delivery needs to be complete above and beyond providing
functionally compliant design, but it includes
- Application Aware Software (Delivering just an API layer is not good enough)
- For example in WLAN, Posedge Provides Multi-BSS, BT Co-Existence software
- Completeness with respect to providing RF (Radio), Data Convertors (ADC/DACs), Hardware IP (MAC and Baseband) and Software.
- Need to provide End to End solution
- Certification Support. IP Vendor need to have a support model to enable Customer's WiFi certification, FCC certification and other regulatory requirements like DFS.
- Production Testing. IP Vendor needs to provide, Production test routines with respect to trimming, calibration
The discussion / presentation is around the different things expected in the market place for "Sub-System IP's" with specific examples. It not only talks about the requirements, but also some solutions to the problems.
