Intel talking to Arm about becoming an anchor investor in Arm IPO

Intel is reported to be in talks with Arm about becoming an anchor investor in the IPO planned for the autumn.

An anchor investor sets a price for a block of shares in an IPO  and is guaranteed an allotment of shares when the IPO happens. The role of anchor investors is to help stabilise the IPO process and add a degree of certainty to the pricing.

Arm is looking to raise $8-10 billion from the offer which will list Arm on the Nasdaq.

Softbank, Arm’s owner, has said it wants to retain a controlling share of Arm after the IPO.
