Embedded Non-Volatile Memory IP Ideal for Low-Cost, Secure Storage of HDCP Keys

TORONTO and OTTAWA--Oct 16, 2007 -- Sidense, a leading developer of Logic Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) IP cores, today announced Silicon Library Inc. (SLI), a Japan-based developer of HDMI products and IP, has manufactured HDMI products using Sidense's one-time programmable (OTP) technology to provide secure encryption key storage.

Recent breaches in software-based digital content protection, along with the monetary penalties levied against manufacturers of these breached products, are driving the need for hardware solutions based on embedded OTP memory to securely store the encryption keys used to protect digital content.

Secure, Cost-Effective Keys

Unlike multi-time programmable (MTP) solutions that use charge storage, Sidense's OTP memory is secure and cannot be reverse engineered.

"We looked at multiple NVM suppliers and found that Sidense has the most secure and smallest solution for our HDMI chip needs," said Junzo Shimizu, President and CEO of SLI.

Sidense's patented 1T-Fuse™ OTP memory is 50% smaller than competitive OTP solutions, which helps HDMI chip manufacturers meet tight margin goals in the competitive consumer electronics space.

"With this latest design win in Japan we have added to our growing list of global licensees of our IP for secure encryption key storage in HDMI applications," said Xerxes Wania, President and CEO of Sidense. "Our OTP IP provides our customers with a low-cost and highly secure mechanism for storing security key and other very sensitive information."

About Sidense

Sidense provides secure, dense and reliable non-volatile one-time programmable (OTP) memory IP for use in standard-logic CMOS processes, with no additional masks or process steps required. Sidense's patented one-transistor 1T-Fuse™ architecture is available from 180nm to 65nm at leading foundries. Ideal applications include analog trimming, code storage, encryption keys such as HDCP, RFID and Chip ID, and configurable processors and logic. For more information, visit www.sidense.com.
