About Design and Reuse

Design & Reuse (D&R) was founded in October, 1997 by Gabriele Saucier and Philippe Coeurdevey as a web portal for disseminating value-added information on electronic virtual components, specifically  IP (intellectual property) and SoC’s (systems-on-chips). Shortly thereafter, D&R extended its scope to also include providing enterprise-level IP management platforms.

D&R as a Web Portal

D&R launched its industry leading web and B2B portal (www.design-reuse.com) for the IP/SoC market in 1997. Today, with 15,000 IP/SOC product descriptions updated daily and an average of 70,000 absolute unique visitors to the site per month (source: Google Analytics), plus Design & Reuse News email broadcasts enjoyed by 35,000 subscribers and its client to IP and service provider matching capabilities, the Design-Reuse.com site provides important services to the IP industry. More recently D&R launched a sister site, www.dr-embedded.com, to address the interest in resources specifically required for the Embedded design space such as software, OS’s, and platforms.

Customers have come to expect that D&R will always keep them up to date on IP industry related news and new product launches through the announcements and marketing campaigns published on the Design-Reuse.com website. Recognizing Design-Reuse.com as the “go-to” website for IP information and D&R’s reputation for industry leading services and B2B matching capabilities, over 400 companies around the world use D&R’s website and electronic newsletter channels to provide the latest information on their products to current and prospective customers.

D&R Services

The mission of D&R Services is to enable the efficient operation of IP businesses.  As part of that mission, D&R provides IP cataloguing services on its public web portal that are updated in real time and available worldwide, 24 hours a day. It also provides “private” catalogs where data from 3rd party IP vendors is automatically sent to client company intranets through their firewalls to support their internal designers. D&R also provides Foundry Gateways for disseminating accurate IP maturity information on hard IP for specific process nodes.

Developed based on knowledge and experience acquired through over 15 years of working in the IP industry, D&R offers a unique industry solution for managing external and internal IP in an enterprise.

The Java-based modular platform supports an extensible and configurable set of management actions that covers all facets of IP management, including publishing, client delivery and reuse for Internally developed IP, and multiple aspects of managing Externally Sourced IP such as usage tracking, revision control, and licensing.
