Making Life Easier for IP Providers and UsersChip Design Magazine - Howard L. Martin, President, Zocalo TechrJun. 01, 2010 |
Intellectual property (IP) designs are no different than other design blocks with the exception that developers of IP blocks are often far removed from the team integrating and simulating the design. While some design knowledge is transferred via documentation and testbenches accompanying the IP, there are likely many subtleties in the use of the IP which cannot be adequately conveyed via traditional documentation. This knowledge gap can be filled by the use of assertions within the IP block.
