Xilinx Ships FPGA Industry's Only Compliant Programmable x8 PCI Express IP Core
The Xilinx PCIe IP Core is compliant to the PCI Express base specification v1.1 and is the only programmable x8 lane PCIe IP Core to have successfully completed all PCI Express compliance and interoperability tests administered at PCI-SIG PCI Express Compliance Workshop #48. It is also included on the PCI-SIG's Integrators List for PCI Express products. More information about Xilinx PCIe IP Core is available at www.xilinx.com/pciexpress.
"The availability of a compliant, PCIe x8 lane FPGA-based PCI Express IP offers a much needed flexible and programmable option to the embedded designer community," said Jag Bolaria, senior analyst at The Linley Group. "Rather than use expensive ASICs, designers have the option to quickly create solutions that work with industry's dominant chipsets while maintaining the ability to add their unique requirements."
PCI SIG Compliance and Interoperability Testing
The PCI-SIG PCI Express Compliance Workshop #48 was held on December 5-9, 2005 in Milpitas, CA. The Xilinx PCIe IP Core successfully completed 100 percent of rigorous Gold tests for compliance with the PCI Express specifications for Electrical, Link/Transaction and PCI Express Configuration Verification using an x8 PCI Express add-in card based on Virtex(TM)-4 FX FPGAs. The Xilinx PCIe IP Core also successfully completed interoperability with industry leading processor and graphics chipsets, PCs/servers, PCIe switch chips and test equipment present at the compliance workshop.
