CoWare Adds IBM PPC750GX/GL Processor Support Package to SystemC-based Model Library
Latest Addition to the CoWare Model Library is First to Enable Development of Software for IBM PPC750GX/GL-based Systems
Embedded System's Conference, San Jose, Calif.--April 3, 2006--CoWare, Inc., the leading supplier of electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services, announced it has added new IP models to the CoWare Model Library – the IBM PPC750GX and the PPC750GL processors. This increases the SystemC processor models currently available in the CoWare Model Library and makes CoWare the first ESL solution provider to offer a software development environment for these IBM processor-based systems.
“Our collaboration with CoWare provides our mutual customers with a tool environment to help develop software earlier in the design cycle,” said Ted Johnson, product marketing manager for PowerPC, IBM Systems & Technology.
The IBM models enable the rapid creation of PPC750GX/GL-based systems at the transaction level in SystemC, prior to the creation of the hardware prototype. The IBM Mambo model has been integrated as a CoWare Instruction Accurate Processor Support Package. The resulting PPC750GX/GL Processor Support Package can be configured in the CoWare tools through a configuration file. Together with the other IP models in CoWare’s extensive model library, the availability of this model enables the creation of various platforms within the CoWare tools. The CoWare tools then provide an optimal environment for fast simulation of the software running on the processor models so that effects on the system can be analyzed and optimizations can be made early in the design. This shortens the design cycle and reduces the risk of mismatches between the resulting hardware and software.
“As designers strive to manage the complexity of both hardware and software in converging applications, they are increasingly turning to ESL design and powerful processors such as the IBM PPC750GX and PPC750GL cores,” said Tom De Schutter, IP marketing manager, CoWare. “We have been working successfully with IBM and we’re delighted to expand our modeling solution for platform-driven ESL design to benefit our mutual customers.”
