Update: Cadence Completes Acquisition of Evatronix IP Business (Jun 13, 2013)
Silicon-proven USB controller IP cores and PHYs available for multiple CMOS processes
Bielsko-Biala & Gliwice, Poland – November 29, 2006 - Evatronix SA, the silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider in Poland, has announced a partnership with JMicron Technology Corp., a leading fabless IC company in Taiwan, which brings to market USB connectivity subsystems ready for integration in system-on-chips. Evatronix developed the software stack for the range of its silicon proven USB controllers (USB 2.0 Device and USB On-The-Go) and JMicron designed the corresponding USB physical layer (PHY) mixed signal IPs. These Total USB Solutions range help engineers to minimize the risk in integrating USB (or USB OTG) interface into their designs.
“The anticipation of potential problems between USB controller and PHY interoperability are quite often expressed by design engineers before they start a SoC design,” said Wojciech Sakowski, Evatronix president and CSO. “Our joint development effort eliminates any risk associated with such integration, providing a robust, fully tested, complete USB solution that interoperates perfectly. Built on Evatronix and JMicron IP cores (along with the Evatronix software stack), the Total USB Solutions have also passed certifications according to USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) requirements.”
Despite a large number of USB controllers and USB analog-to-digital physical layer IPs available on the market today, there are very few solutions that are silicon proven and certified as “plug-and-play”, as from Evatronix and JMicron. “Using our optimized solution licensees can achieve first-pass success when integrating USB application into SoC,” added Sakowski.
“The experience and engineering excellence from both companies guarantees that our Total USB Solutions will save licensees significant design time by eliminating the effort related to matching analog and digital IPs that were not tested together for interoperability,“ said Mr. Tim Liu, chief executive officer at JMicron.
Emerging as a primary source of complete USB connectivity solutions, the Evatronix/JMicron partnership brings a synergistic IP to the industry with their flexible, cost-effective and easy to use IP packages.
The Total USB Solutions are available now for UMC 0.18 um, 0.13 um and 90 nm technologies, and can be purchased through both Evatronix and JMicron established sales channels.
