Mercury Computer Systems Is Selected by Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) to Provide Serial RapidIO Verification IP and IP Cores
CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Dec. 4, 2006 -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRCY) announced that Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (Nasdaq: AMCC), a leader in network and embedded PowerPC(R) processing, optical transport and storage solutions, has licensed Mercury's Serial RapidIO(R) Verification Intellectual Property (IP) and Serial RapidIO IP core products for its chip design and verification efforts.
Serial RapidIO Verification IP from Mercury is a complete, highly configurable, enhanced-function verification environment that allows developers to rapidly integrate RapidIO technology into their products for faster time to market. It is architected to provide an end-to-end solution for Serial RapidIO-based applications in either ASIC- or FPGA-based configurations, and supports input/output and message-passing logical layer standards. AMCC engineers intend to use the Mercury Serial RapidIO Verification IP at the pre-silicon stage of verification to model and simulate interactions with other interfaces in the chip design.
"A critical role in supporting time to market for new products is functional verification," said Victor Menasce, Chief Technology Officer of AMCC. "Mercury's technology leadership, domain expertise, and experience in delivering robust Serial RapidIO-based solutions were critical to our selection of a key supplier for our next-generation products."
Designed to test the RapidIO interface at all layers including logical, transport, and physical, the Verification IP ensures, corrects, and increases product quality; optimizes design of its chip interfaces; and ultimately increases verification productivity. It addresses the needs of endpoint, bridge, and switching applications and other applications that require a flexible solution.
Over the last two years, Mercury has successfully demonstrated system- level IP for RapidIO interfaces working in a range of silicon technologies, including FPGA, structured ASIC, and ASIC vendors.
"Mercury's offering of Serial Verification IP is an industry first for Serial RapidIO designs," said Tracy Richardson, Director of the Silicon Solutions Group, in the Advanced Solutions business at Mercury Computer Systems. "We are seeing a high level of interest, as the Verification IP allows customers improve their time to market and implement high-quality products quickly. We are very pleased to have AMCC as our customer, and are committed to providing the IP and support necessary to their continued success."
Mercury's Serial RapidIO Verification IP supports directed and random testing, automatically generates flow control packet, creates Serial RapidIO transactions, and checks responses. It performs functional and coverage analysis and simplifies compliance reporting, reducing verification time dramatically as it complies with the industry-standard System Verilog-based environment.
