Wi-LAN Strengthens Management Team
OTTAWA, Canada – May 4, 2007 –Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX: WIN) (“Wi-LAN”) today announced it has added four new senior members to its team: Andrew Parolin, Curtis Dodd, Vipin Aggarwal and Bob Kedrosky.
Andrew Parolin joins Wi-LAN as VP, Business Development and will be responsible for overseeing Wi-LAN’s patent acquisition program. He joins Wi-LAN from SiGe Semiconductor where he served as Director of Wireless Data Products. He is an experienced business manager with an electrical engineering degree and a track record of driving complex deals to successful completion. He has significant technical expertise in a number of Wi-LAN’s current technologies, including Wi-Fi, WiMAX and CDMA.
Curtis Dodd joins Wi-LAN as Director, Patents and Counsel. Curtis will be heavily involved in many of Wi-LAN’s key business activities including patent licensing discussions, the analysis of potential patent acquisitions, litigation management and the prosecutions of Wi-LAN’s patent portfolio. Curtis has considerable experience in Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies. He comes to Wi-LAN from Nortel Networks, where he was Intellectual Property Counsel and was heavily involved in wireless technology patent licensing. A patent attorney, engineer and registered patent agent, he has authored several papers on U.S. and Canadian patent laws.
Vipin Aggarwal joins Wi-LAN as Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property. Vipin will also be helping to drive several of Wi-LAN’s key business activities including patent analysis, the development of Wi-LAN’s patent portfolio, patent licensing, litigation management and patent acquisition. He brings over fifteen years experience in intellectual property matters, including experience with Semiconductor Insights. Recently, Vipin served as Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property at SMART Technologies.
Bob Kedrosky joins Wi-LAN as Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services. Bob will assume overall responsibility for most corporate services functions at Wi-LAN including human resources, information technology, facilities and infrastructure, allowing other executives to focus more exclusively on licensing. He comes to Wi-LAN from Bell Security Solutions, where he was Senior HR Director.
