XEMICS extends its Ultra Low Power, Low Voltage Libraries
with TSMC's 0.18 µm cell library
NEUCHATEL, Switzerland - 11th May, 2000 - XEMICS today announced its newly developed TSMC 0.18 µm standard cell library: Ultra low-power CooLIB 4.1. This new library joins the already existing TSMC 0.5 µm and 0.25 µm, as well as the Tower 0.5 µm and UMC 0.5 µm.
Notably today, portable electronic markets are positioned around key issues such as battery life, battery cost and time to market etc. With TSMCs' 0.18 µm technology, customers benefit from such advantages as increased design performance, including more complex features, and longer battery durability.
"With this in mind, and based on XEMICS' 30 years of low-power expertise, XEMICS' CooLIB 4.1 cell library has been designed to team up with TSMC's 0.18 µm technology to meet the needs of ever increasing reduced power consumption demands. Our customers will profit from the use of more leading edge products that can operate below 1 V. The TSMC 0.18 µm evaluation pack allows customers to perform design simulation and thereby gain access to power consumption, design, layout (cell density) and overall silicon surface information", said Remy Pache, President of XEMICS USA Inc.
The complete CooLIB version 4.1 cell libraries for the TSMC 0.18 µm processes can be downloaded from XEMICS' web-site http://www.xemics.com. Users also have direct access to the various evaluation packs available on our web-site, giving them the ability to test and evaluate them.
About XEMICS
XEMICS designs and then delivers in volume mixed analog, digital and radio frequency integrated circuits, mainly for battery-operated devices. The company also markets its ultra low-power digital cell libraries CooLIB 4.1 and 8-bit RISC core CoolRISC® as IP products. In its fourth year of operation, (year 2000) the company is expecting total revenues of 25 M Swiss francs. For its IC activities, XEMICS acts as a fabless semiconductor company, subcontracting wafer manufacturing from major foundries around the world, and offering "One Stop Shop" services to its customers, from design to product delivery. In 1998, 40 different products, representing several million devices were sold. XEMICS markets are those for which high performance, ultra low -power and quite often miniaturization are key elements. These include: Hearing aids, watches, portable electronic devices, utility meters, security systems, pressure and acceleration sensing systems, short distance wireless RF communication, GPS, and deeply embedded systems based on RISC and DSP cores.
