AKA's MIL-STD 1553 RT core validated by leading independent test house
Santa Clara, Ca -- August 10, 2007 -- Advanced Knowledge Associates (AKA) - the leader in miniaturized, reconfigurable, fully self-contained and high-performance system-on-module technology - today announced that it has achieved certification for its MIL-STD-1553B remote terminal (RT) core. First published as an Air Force standard in 1973 to define certain data bus requirements for information transfer, MIL-STD-1553 continues to be used heavily today in mission-critical systems, such as in avionics, space and defense.
AKA offers the MIL-STD-1553B RT core integrated within its broadening range of Prepackaged Reconfigurable Integrated Systems-on-Modules (PRISMs). AKA's PRISMs combine standard CPU subsystems including memories, boot devices, and standard interfaces with an FPGA fabric in one miniaturized package with a single rail voltage supply. These building blocks are fast replacing other custom and standard platforms as they reduce system size, cut costs, avoid obsolescence issues and minimize time to market.
Comments AKA's CEO, Guy Marom: "One of the most significant benefits offered by our modules is that they simplify system design. Now that our MIL-STD-1553B RT core has been validated by Test Systems Inc, - a company that is solely focused on 1553 testing - our worldwide customers in the defense, space and avionics industries can be assured that systems based on our modules will communicate in accordance to this standard, ensuring seamless integration and high performance."
In addition to MIL STD 1553B, AKA's PRISMs also support the following interfaces: Dual CAN, Dual Ethernet 10/100Base-T, and USB.
