Renesas Technology Wins Patent Infringement Suit Brought by Translogic Technology
The suit was originally filed in 1999 in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon by Translogic Technology, charging Hitachi (from which Renesas Technology was later spun off as an independent company), and its affiliates, with infringement of its patent on microcontrollers. While the litigation progressed, Renesas Technology has repeatedly taken the position that the patent in question is invalid and that the company's products are not in violation of it, and the ruling by the CAFC vindicates this claim.
Renesas Technology has always scrupulously respected the legitimate intellectual property rights of third parties and will continue to do so by complying with the intellectual property protection regimes of the United States, Japan, China, and other countries. At the same time, the company will continue to ensure the protection and value of its own intellectual property.
