90nm OTP Non Volatile Memory for Standard CMOS Logic Process
Express Logic Introduces ThreadX RTOS Support for Tensilica's New Diamond Standard 106Micro
Small, Fast RTOS for Smallest Licensable 32-Bit Core
SAN DIEGO -- December 3, 2007 -- Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced ThreadX RTOS and middleware support for Tensilica’s new Diamond Standard 106Micro 32-bit microcontroller core. With the addition of support for the new 106Micro, Express Logic continues to provide ThreadX for the entire line of Tensilica’s Xtensa configurable cores and its Diamond Standard series of preconfigured cores.
ThreadX is Express Logic’s small, fast, royalty-free RTOS for demanding real-time applications. Its royalty-free business model makes ThreadX extremely attractive for high-volume devices. ThreadX’s ease-of-use enables ThreadX-powered devices to get to market on time and within budget, which accounts for ThreadX’s success in the marketplace and its high-volume implementations. ThreadX has been widely embraced and is currently deployed in excess of 450 million electronic products. ThreadX is complemented by Express Logic’s NetX™ TCP/IP stack, FileX® file system, USBX™ USB stack, and PEGX™ GUI development kit, all of which also are available for Tensilica’s new Diamond Standard 106Micro.
“In the 18 months since we introduced the original six members of the Diamond Standard family of controllers, CPUs and DSPs we have seen a great deal of interest in ThreadX from our Diamond core user community,” noted Steve Roddy, Tensilica’s vice president of marketing and business development. “We think that ThreadX will be a very popular choice for users of the 106Micro core. The speed, simplicity and low-cost of the ThreadX operating system are the perfect complement to the area, power and performance advantages of the Diamond 106Micro controller.”
The low-power Diamond Standard 106Micro is designed for simple controller applications in SOC (system-on-chip) designs, and an ideal choice for designers migrating from 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers to 32-bit processors. All Diamond Standard processors are supported by an optimized set of Diamond Standard software tools and a wide range of industry infrastructure partners, who provide support with operating systems, design services, hardware prototyping and emulation, libraries and memories, EDA tools, and peripherals.
Tensilica provides a proven infrastructure for its Diamond Standard processor core family. This infrastructure includes software development tools directly from Tensilica as well as JTAG probe support from Bytetools, FS2, Macraigor Systems, and Sophia Systems; libraries and memories from ARM (Artisan) and Virage Logic; and support for popular EDA tools from Cadence, CoWare, Magma and Synopsys. The Diamond 106Micro model for CoWare Platform Architect is available from CoWare.
commented William E. Lamie, president of Express Logic. “Tensilica’s Diamond cores offer developers small size and high performance, just like ThreadX,”“We’re confident that the combination of ThreadX and the Diamond 106Micro will enable developers to bring cost-effective products to market quickly.”
Shipping and Availability
ThreadX, NetX, FileX, USBX, and PEGX for the Tensilica Diamond 106MICRO are available immediately from Express Logic, at royalty-free license prices starting at $12,500.
