Pikermi, Athens -- December 16, 2008 -- The SPDIF-T core implements the SPDIF digital audio transmitter interface in a compact, high-performance, stand-alone package ideal for digital audio applications. The SPDIF-T core conforms to the ISO/IEC 60958, ISO/IEC 61937, AES/EBU, AES3 and SMPTE 337M standards. The SPDIF-T core supports up to 24 bits per sample and up to 192 kHz sample rate that makes it suitable for hi-fi equipment. It has bandwidth saving abilities by automatically transmitting stuffing frames when transmitting compressed audio databursts. It can be easily interfaced with microcontroller and audio DACs.This makes it ideal for applications such as:
- Digital audio players (CD, SACD) for linear pcm stream transmission
- Video players (DVD, VCD, SVCD) for non linear pcm stream transmission (AC-3, DTS)
- Computer audio interfaces
- Audio mastering equipment
The SPDIF-T core is a fully synchronous, strictly positive-edge design with no internal tristate buffers. Comprehensive documentation and a complete verification environment - including a bit-accurate model - help designers integrate and verify the core.
Integration of the core is made easier for developers by delivering it with everything needed for immediate use. The core itself is available in VHDL source code, or as an optimized netlist for FPGAs and structured ASICs.
