Chip Sales Dipped Slightly in 2015

Global semiconductor sales totaled $335.2 billion in 2015, a slight decrease of 0.2% from 2014, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) Trade Group.

The final total was dragged down by a relatively poor month of December, when chip sales dipped to $27.6 billion, a decrease of 4.4% compared to November 2015 and a decrease of 5.2% compared to December 2014.

For the fourth quarter of 2015, sales declined to $82.9 billion, down 5.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2014, the SIA said.
