CAMBRIDGE, UK - April 4, 2000
"Prospector is a prototyping platform that supports a broad spectrum of applications software and operating systems, enabling designers to initiate concept testing and performance evaluation early in the development cycle," said Gordon Stubberfield, product marketing manager for hardware platforms. "ARM core-based designs can now be road-tested without incurring additional lead time and pre-production or NRE charges, providing a tremendous advantage both from an engineering and a marketing standpoint."
The Prospector P-Series is available in a robust, ergonomic, standalone package that includes color or monochrome LCD display, touchscreen, audio, keyboard, power supply, firmware, and serial ports. A board-only option is also available in a simplified case for developers who don't require the standard keyboard and screen, enabling them to connect peripherals specific to their application.
Each member of the Prospector P-Series Family will feature a widely available ARM core-based application specific standard product (ASSP) and ARM firmware, providing a highly flexible point solution for system designers. The Prospector P-1100 utilizes a StrongARM® SA1100 device and is available now; the Prospector P-720T, which incorporates an ARM720Tâ„¢ part, will be available in June 2000. Both platforms support applications development for environments such as EPOC, Java, Windows CE, Linux, and µC/OSII.
The Prospector P-Series is part of ARM's integrated platform development strategy to facilitate ARM core-based embedded, ASSP, and system-on-chip designs. In addition to incorporating ARM's standard firmware packages utilized by all ARM cores, the Prospector P-Series is supported by a wide range of host-based ARM core-optimized application libraries, tools, and software.
