Hsinchu, Taiwan — June 2, 2025 – Andes Technology, a leading supplier of high-efficiency, low-power 32/64-bit RISC-V processor cores and Founding Premier member of RISC-V International, today announced that Metanoia Communications, a leading player in 5G Radio Access Networking solutions, has selected the AndesCore™ AX45MP for its MT5824 5G O-RAN platform – the industry’s smallest and lowest-power 4T4R O-RU software-defined radio (SDR) solution. Metanoia chose Andes’ RISC-V IP for its superior performance, energy efficiency, and streamlined integration.
At the heart of the MT5824 platform is the AndesCore™ AX45MP, a 64-bit multicore superscalar processor featuring a dual-issue, 8-stage pipeline. This performant RISC-V IP delivers outstanding SpecInt2006 scores while maintaining low power consumption. The AX45MP includes a high-bandwidth and configurable memory subsystem and security features, and is ideal for the real-time control, baseband signal processing, and protocol stack operations in 5G RUs. Further, robust out-of-the-box support for Linux BSPs and the AndeSight™ IDE software development tools streamlines software development, enabling rapid deployment of Metanoia’s open-source RU-Manager SDK for O-RAN applications.
The MT5824 platform combines the MT2824 “Cobra” System on Chip (SoC) and MT3812 “Yucca” RFIC to integrate a Digital Front-End (DFE) with built-in vector DSPs to enable advanced signal processing, making it ideal for SDR implementations. Designed for high-performance wireless communication, it ensures strong traffic aggregation, high security, and network integration aligned with the evolving needs of 5G Radio Units (RUs) and small cell infrastructure.
“The AndesCore™ AX45MP gave us the high-performance, low-power processing foundation we needed for the MT5824 5G O-RAN SoC,” said Dr. Stewart Wu, Chairman and CEO of Metanoia Communications. “The mature software support – including a comprehensive Linux BSP – enabled rapid integration of our RU-Manager SDK. Together, the hardware and software helped us rapidly deliver a compact, power-efficient 4T4R O-RU solution.”
“The Metanoia MT5824 SoC represents a significant advancement in 5G infrastructure. Its low power consumption, compact size, and flexible SDR architecture make it an ideal choice for Open RAN Radio Units.” said Frankwell Lin, Chairman and CEO of Andes Technology. “The collaboration with Metanoia showcases the powerful combination of our AX45MP RISC-V core and Metanoia’s innovative O-RU design.”
