AIoT 2.0 brings smarter voice and visual features to connected devices

Aug. 11, 2025 –

Tencent Cloud has rolled out an updated version of its AIoT product line, version 2.0, aimed at making smart devices easier to build and use. The upgrade includes its voice intelligence system, TWeTalk, and video intelligence system, TWeSee.

Both are integrated with Tencent Cloud’s core AIoT platform, which handles device management, messaging, and audio-video communications. The goal is to give businesses a single service that ties together hardware, software, and ready-to-use multimodal features.

As AI becomes more advanced, connected devices are shifting from being “AI-assisted” to “AI-driven,” the company claims. AIoT 2.0 is designed to remove common hurdles like integration and adaptation of models for different systems.

AIoT 2.0 in detail

TWeTalk provides voice-based AI for smart hardware, supporting features like noise reduction, ‘wake word’ detection, sound source localisation, emotion recognition, and voice customisation. Tencent works with embedded chip and module makers on device-side performance, while the Tencent cloud side can handle speech-to-text, text-to-speech, WeChat calls, and conversation highlights. Businesses can select capabilities to fit their needs, using them like building blocks to create tailored solutions.

TWeTalk is used in toys, robots, wearables, translation headsets, ordering systems, guided tours, and AI interviews. For example, Dahua uses Tencent Cloud’s tech in its screen-equipped cameras, so they can make WeChat calls without users having to install the WeChat binaries.

TWeSee focuses on what Tencent terms visual intelligence. TWeSee can compress video, summarise content, detect objects, and perform searches using AI agents. Enabled system can use Tencent Cloud’s AIoT platform or with third-party cloud storage.

TWeSee’s capabilities can be applied in home security, retail, and industrial settings. The company gives the examples of the creation of ‘highlight reels’ of pet activity; text, image, or voice-based video searches; and the monitoring of shop shelves for stock. In surveillance uses, it can detect and alert users to possible theft or other incidents, and analyse customer foot traffic.

Real-world adoption

Tencent Cloud’s AIoT 2.0 is already in use worldwide. In toys, Alpha Group’s Weslie 3.0 uses TWeTalk to add WeChat calling and other interactive features. Jianing Lv, head of Alpha Group’s Intelligent Toy Division, said they want Weslie to become a “true smart companion.”

Talking Tom’s “AI Tom Bud” also uses TWeTalk for its launch in North America. Han Chengyan, co-founder of Talking Tom’s AI business, credited Tencent Cloud’s language technology and localised deployment for making the rollout possible.

In audio devices, Philips AVA-CN uses TWeTalk to turn its TAT5599 headphones into both a meeting assistant and a portable translator. Wang Qiang, General Manager of Philips AVA China Region, said their work with Tencent Cloud has moved the product beyond simple sound transmission to “intelligent communication.”
