Cloud2GND's Aurawave AW100 platform employs Ezurio's BL5340PA module integrating Nordic's nRF5340 SoC and nRF21540 RF FEM
Oslo, Norway, Aug. 22, 2025 –
Global engineering services company, Cloud2GND, in partnership with wireless technology specialists, Ezurio (formerly Laird Connectivity), has released a module designed to simplify development of Bluetooth® LE Audio- and Auracast™-compliant wireless audio products.
The ‘Aurawave AW100’ series features variants based on Ezurio’s ‘‘BL5340PA’ and ‘BL5340’ modules. Both Ezurio modules integrate Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF5340 SoC, while the BL5340PA module also includes the nRF21540 RF front-end module (FEM) for applications requiring increased range or throughput, and decreased latency. In addition to the Ezurio modules, the Aurawave AW100 provides additional circuitry and connectors to support audio in/out, USB connectivity, QSPI Flash for additional program memory, a 10 pin Cortex debug connector, and a 40 pin header to allow for access to all available I/O. It comes in a 65 by 32 mm form factor.
To support the Aurawave platform, Cloud2GND has developed Aurawave Audio Framework AT command software, running on the Nordic nRF Connect SDK, that enables the module to serve as an Auracast transmitter/receiver, allowing for the wireless broadcasting of high-quality audio to multiple Bluetooth receivers simultaneously. Additionally, the AW100 can operate in both a standalone or host manage mode, and the USB input can act as a class compliant audio input. The AW100 can also function as a flexible LE Audio device, with configuration and control provided through the AT command interface.
“Auracast technology is at the forefront of wireless audio streaming, offering a seamless and reliable user experience in environments such as public venues, conference halls, and personal audio setups,” says Tim Reilly, Director of Business Development, Cloud2GND. “The AW100 is targeted at companies that are developing LE Audio and Auracast solutions for these environments, where the size of the solution is not a critical factor. It can also be used a development or engineering platform to provide LE Audio and Auracast transmitter/receiver functionality for businesses such as speaker companies that are supporting LE Audio and Auracast in their products.”
Ezurio’s BL5340PA module is directly targeted at OEM customers requiring the longest range and highest MCU performance for their products’ wireless connectivity needs. The addition of the nRF21540 RF FEM improves the link budget and connection robustness and significantly increases wireless range over the BL5340 module. The combination of the nRF5340 SoC and nRF21540 RF FEM together in a certified module, not only enables long range LE Audio use cases, but a host of other applications, for example industrial predictive maintenance.
“There are very few modules on the market that offer both the nRF5340 SoC and nRF21540 RF FEM,” says Jonathan Kaye, VP Product Management & Marketing, Ezurio. “The nRF5340 SoC’s dual Cortex M33 architecture and multi-wireless capabilities are backed by extensive Flash and RAM. Combining it with the nRF21540 RF FEM to extend the TX power, makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, not only LE Audio.”
“In combination with Ezurio’s global technical support capabilities, Canvas Software Suite, extensive development kit design, and wide range of pre-certified antennas, the BL5340PA module is a unique offering.”
