SEOUL, South Korea – QUALITAS SEMICONDUCTOR CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Qualitas") (KOSDAQ: 432720), a leading provider of high-speed interconnect solutions, announced today that it has signed a MIPI C/D-PHY IP license agreement with a U.S.-based Edge AI SoC company.
This agreement is significant as it demonstrates that Qualitas’s MIPI C/D-PHY IP has been recognized for its operational stability and performance in next-generation process environments, including 2nm, while securing a key customer reference in the North American market. The fact that the contracting party is a U.S. Edge AI SoC specialist underscores that Qualitas's technological capabilities meet global industry standards.
The 2nm process node adopts a GAA (Gate-All-Around) transistor architecture — one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes available today — delivering marked improvements in power efficiency and performance compared to previous generations. Ensuring reliable IP operation in such a technically demanding process environment requires deep expertise in process PDKs and highly precise design capabilities. Qualitas has successfully met the customer's rigorous qualification requirements through PPA (Power, Performance, Area) optimization at this advanced process node.
MIPI C/D-PHY is an industry-standard interface specification for camera and display connectivity, essential for Edge AI devices that handle high-resolution image data across applications including smartphones, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and security cameras. The standard demands both low-power design and high-speed data transmission performance simultaneously. As the Edge AI market continues its rapid expansion, demand for real-time image processing in on-device environments is surging, driving the growing strategic importance of MIPI PHY IP. Qualitas has proactively responded to this market trend by continuously expanding its MIPI PHY IP portfolio optimized for advanced process nodes.
"This agreement is a testament to the competitiveness of our MIPI PHY IP technology, now validated at the 2nm process node," said Dr. Duho Kim, CEO of Qualitas. "The North American Edge AI market is expanding rapidly across diverse application areas — from autonomous driving and robotics to smart vision systems. Building on this reference, we will aggressively pursue further customer engagements and accelerate our global market expansion."
In a related development, Qualitas has recently established a local subsidiary in Silicon Valley to build a systematic foundation for its North American market strategy. The subsidiary is staffed by resident executive-level engineers capable of providing direct technical support, enabling swift and in-depth responses to customer technical requests. Through close collaboration with the headquarters engineering team — covering everything from design support to IP verification — the company aims to strengthen technical trust with its North American customers and position itself as a reliable long-term partner.
