Advances in quantum computing mean that legacy RSA and elliptic-curve algorithms need to be updated urgently. Q-Day, the date when non-quantum-safe cryptographic techniques and algorithms can be broken, is predicted to occur around 2030, though it could arrive as early as 2028. Despite this, the industry is still very much in the preparation phase.
In this article, we’ll outline five core elements to consider when testing, verifying, optimizing, and certifying that your network security preparations are on track to be quantum-safe, not just by Q-Day, but effectively now to defeat the “harvest now, decrypt later” threats.
