Marvell Technology has announced plans to invest $250 million in India over the next three years.
The company is looking to expand its research, engineering and infrastructure capabilities as demand grows for advanced semiconductor technologies supporting artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data infrastructure.
The investment will include an expansion of the company's operations in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, alongside plans to double its workforce in India over the same period. Marvell has also unveiled a new wing at its Bengaluru facility, strengthening what has become one of the company's key global research and development hubs.
Navin Bishnoi, Vice President and India Country Manager at Marvell, said India plays an increasingly important role in the company's global operations.
“India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence for Marvell, playing a critical role in advancing the infrastructure technologies that power the world’s leading hyperscalers and cloud providers,” he said.
“As we celebrate 20 years in India, we remain committed to expanding R&D investments, strengthening the country’s semiconductor ecosystem and developing the next generation of technology talent.”
Marvell established its presence in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since developed India into its second-largest research and development organisation worldwide. Teams based in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad contribute to a range of technologies, including advanced semiconductor process technologies, high-speed analogue intellectual property, subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon engineering.
The company said its Indian workforce is involved in multiple technology platforms and has contributed to patented innovations while increasingly using artificial intelligence tools to support engineering productivity and product development.
Beyond its direct technology investments, Marvell said it is continuing efforts to support India's semiconductor ecosystem through partnerships with universities, start-ups, industry bodies and government organisations. These collaborations include internship programmes, joint research initiatives, faculty development projects and curriculum support aimed at preparing students for careers in advanced engineering and technology.
The company also works with start-ups through mentoring programmes and strategic collaborations linked to its technology and product areas, while maintaining engagement with industry associations and government stakeholders to encourage growth across the semiconductor sector.
As part of its talent development strategy, Marvell recently launched the Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM) programme. The initiative is designed to support students pursuing studies in electronics, electrical engineering and computer science through financial assistance and industry exposure.
