TIER IV is teaming up with Renesas Electronics to develop an open AI-native computing platform for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), combining the Autoware autonomous driving software stack and AI models with Renesas’ latest R-Car automotive processors.
The companies are targeting a scalable platform spanning Level 2+/2++ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) through Level 4 autonomous driving, with an initial demonstration planned for September.
For eeNews Europe readers, the collaboration highlights how automotive processor vendors are increasingly being pushed to support both conventional autonomous-driving software and emerging end-to-end AI workloads. It also gives automakers and Tier 1 suppliers another open reference platform for evaluating next-generation SDV architectures.
