South Korea's semiconductor intellectual property (IP) industry is beginning to benefit from the launch of the government-led K-On-Device AI Semiconductor Technology Development project. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is overseeing the project, which was formally approved in June with a total project budget of 800.23 billion won for 2026-2030.
OPENEDGES Technology announced on Oct. 2 that it had signed an IP licensing agreement with a South Korean company. The contract is reportedly part of the K-On-Device AI Semiconductor Technology Development project. The contract is worth 6.7 billion won, equivalent to 41.7% of last year's revenue of about 16.1 billion won. It is the company's first disclosed contract in about six months since April 1.
