GlobalFoundries has increased its capital investment in US semiconductor manufacturing facilities to $5 billion. This expansion is supported by an amended CHIPS Program award of up to $955 million.
GlobalFoundries, the only US-based pure-play foundry with a global manufacturing footprint, has agreed to expand its capital investment in its Malta, NY, and Burlington, VT, facilities to $5 billion.The Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Office amended an existing award, reallocating up to $955 million in incentives under the US CHIPS and Science Act to support this modernization and expansion. The total amount of the existing CHIPS Program award will not be increased.
