eInfochips Announces Availability of Two Reference Designs Featuring Marvell Sheeva CPU Technology
AHMEDABAD, India and SUNNYVALE, California -- March 27, 2009 -- eInfochips, a leading IP driven product development services company with spec-to-silicon-to-system capabilities, today announced the availability of two Marvell(R) Kirkwood Series(TM) 88F6281 SoC based reference designs, the OpenRD-Base and the OpenRD-Client.
These cost effective, high performance, low power reference designs offer developers a versatile, open platform to evaluate and develop software for solutions targeted at various market segments. eInfochips and Marvell have also made available the complete hardware and software design information to the developer community on their websites. These include the schematics, layout, bill of materials, uBoot, Linux support package and file system. Customers and OEMs can build their products based on these open platforms directly or with modifications tailored to their specific needs.
Both reference designs use a Marvell Kirkwood Series 88F6281 SoC with an embedded 1.2GHz Sheeva(TM) CPU. These platforms include 512 MB FLASH and 512 MB DRAM running at 400MHz clock to provide ample resources for application development.
Live demo will be showcased at eInfochips Booth #537 at the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon-Valley, March 31 - April 2, 2009.
OpenRD- Base
The OpenRD-Base platform is an entry level, low-cost offering for evaluating Kirkwood 88F6281 SoC capabilities as well as for developing and debugging Linux applications. The key interfaces include a USB 2.0, GbE, SATA connector for 2.5 inch HDD, eSATA, PCI Express x1, SDIO, SMBus and an optional TDM port.
OpenRD-Client
The OpenRD-Client extends the capabilities of the OpenRD-Base with 2D graphics acceleration, VGA output, audio in/out, seven USB 2.0 ports and two GbE ports in an optional aluminum enclosure. This reference design is ideal for prototyping low cost, low power single board computer (SBC) designs for a wide variety of end markets.
"The Marvell Kirkwood Series 88F6281 SoC based reference designs feature advanced CPU capabilities and a wide range of high speed IOs and provide a greater freedom to tailor the look and feel of feature rich, compact and affordable solutions to meet the diverse needs of the target markets", said Nirav Shah, Director of Marketing at eInfochips.
"The OpenRD reference designs give developers open access to compelling computing platforms to develop next generation low power and high performance solutions", said Viren Shah, Senior Director of Marketing for the Enterprise Business Unit at Marvell. "By partnering with eInfochips we are working towards Marvell's goal of accelerating the development and availability of new applications, software and services for consumer and industrial applications."
