Arasan Chip Systems Extends Its Strategic Mobile Initiative by Offering MIPI UniPro IP Solution
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- April 10, 2009 -- Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. ("Arasan"), a leader in Intellectual Property (IP) solutions -- IP cores, Verification IP (VIP), Software Drivers and Stacks and Hardware Solutions, announced the immediate availability of the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI(r)) UniPro Controller IP, a layered, high-speed protocol that provides connectivity between applications processors and wireless, multimedia and mobile chipsets. As a leading provider of mobile IP, Arasan continues to strengthen its Strategic Mobile Initiative by expanding its MIPI IP portfolio with the UniPro IP.
Arasan's UniPro Controller IP is compliant with Specification v1.1 and seamlessly interfaces to the MIPI D-PHY. By adopting the layered OSI network model, UniPro has sufficient flexibility to handle diverse inter-chip communication requirements of chipsets connected to the applications processor. The UniPro IP supports up to four lanes with each lane capable of data transfer of 1 Gbps. Coupled with Arasan's MIPI D-PHY solution, SoC designers have a risk-free, silicon proven, integrated UniPro solution allowing them to focus on differentiating features in their product.
Arasan's UniPro IP supports two traffic classes and end-to-end flow control (optional in the standard), providing system designers with an efficient, low overhead protocol for communication. Mobile chipset designers developing multimedia accelerators, wireless, GPS, mobile TV and other functionality can target a wider range of mobile platforms by integrating Arasan's UniPro solution.
"With increasing consumer driven demand for functionality to be integrated into mobile phones, system designers are seeking solutions to build modular platforms to incorporate these advanced features," said Kevin Yee, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at Arasan. "With Arasan's UniPro solution, customers can quickly bring to market a portfolio of modular, feature-rich products that deliver a superior end-user experience."
Arasan provides a "Total IP Solution" for the UniPro IP. The collateral available for this IP includes RTL, Verification IP, documentation and integration support. A variety of bus interfaces are natively supported, such as AHB, AXI, OCP, or a custom bus can be implemented.
Availability
The UniPro IP core is available immediately for integration into mobile SoCs and chipsets.
