- The silicon Intellectual Property (IP) providers, Evatronix SA and Soft Mixed Signal Corporation announced today the availability of the complete USB 2.0 solution that integrates USB 2.0 Controller IP
from Evatronix and the USB 2.0 PHY IP
from Soft Mixed Signal. Both companies have extensive experience in USB 2.0 designs and therefore the product, although new to the market, is fully mature in terms of its components.
Engineers at Evatronix and SMS put an extra effort to introduce a set of features that would make the joint solution consume as little power as possible.
The USB Controller IP implements configurable amount of memory for each endpoint, which could also be turned off for even less power usage, while a common buffer for OUT (Host IN) type endpoints saves power by taking less silicon area. Other configurable features include a programmable number of endpoints and the system bus width and type.
The USB PHY component is proven to be the smallest USB 2.0 PHY on the market and features a patent-pending multi-port implementation and clock distribution scheme to provide a very robust, low power and very small area multi-port solution for HDTV, set-top boxes and a variety of embedded systems. Furthermore, a proprietary power control scheme delivers extra power savings during full transceiver operation.
