Hsinchu, Taiwan -- July,24 2009 -- Faraday Technology Corporation (TSE: 3035), a leading fabless ASIC design solution and silicon IP provider, today announced its unconsolidated operating results for the quarter ended June 30, 2009. The second quarter revenue was NT$1,378 million, while net income and basic earnings per share came to NT$266 million and NT$0.75, respectively. The ASIC revenue in Q2 is significantly up contributed by more than 50% sales increase in nearly all applications covering consumer, PC peripheral/ storage, multimedia and display, etc. In terms of geography, the revenue from Europe, U.S. and Taiwan markets registers the most noticeable growth rate compared with Q1.
Looking into Q3, ASIC sales is expected to keep its growth momentum, especially in the applications of consumer, multimedia and display. Further, for the attention-getting USB 3.0, Faraday has grabbed both host and device design wins and will keep commitment in technology development and business expansion. More significant revenue contributed from USB 3.0 is expected to happen in H2, Y2010.
