MindTree develops 'e' to SystemVerilog language migration utility
July 28, 2009 -- SystemVerilog (SV) along with its methodologies is emerging as a unified language for design and verification using object oriented techniques. Companies who have already invested in Specman ‘e’ test benches face a dilemma whether to continue supporting legacy verification infrastructure for future versions of their products or migrate to SystemVerilog. Most of the leading EDA vendors support SystemVerilog as a part of the basic simulator with no additional tool cost. MindTree has developed a unique utility to reduce time and effort for migration as well as make verification easy and fast.
MindTree’s utility employs a multi stage approach for migration of ‘e’ based test benches by grouping constructs appropriately. The utility uses a semi-automated approach, wherein both script based and manual conversion techniques are involved. Automatic conversions as high as 90 percent can easily be achieved using this unique utility. It offers a high degree of test environment integrity involving various components like BFM, Scoreboards, Monitors etc.
This utility automatically generates necessary test bench. In addition, it estimates the complexity of the legacy test environment. A TCL supported GUI is provided to enable checking the reports during and after migration process. Currently, VCS, NCSim, Modelsim simulators are supported and the utility is independent of any specific verification methodology.
