intoPIX introduces optimized Spartan-6/Virtex-6 JPEG 2000 encoders & decoders range focusing on Low Power and Ultra High Resolution
Among all new advantages, intoPIX latest solutions propose higher resolutions (up to 8K+), higher frame rates (up to 240 frames per second in 1080p), lower power consumption, lower temperature dissipation and lower cost.
“The new JPEG 2000 encoder and decoder cores for Spartan-6 offer an optimal balance of cost, power and performance that proposes to the intoPIX’ customers a JPEG 2000 solution ready to satisfy even the most demanding applications. This will assist our customers to create innovative products targeting consumer, automotive, surveillance, wireless, and other cost-sensitive markets”, said Gael Rouvroy, CTO of intoPIX. It is the world’s first JPEG 2000 codec integrated in a Spartan-6 FPGA capable to reach 1080p 60 frames per second.
With the new Virtex-6 FPGAs , intoPIX can now deliver Ultra high resolution JPEG 2000 8K (7680 x 4320) and 4K (4096 x 2160) solutions at frame rates up to 60 progressive frames per second for encoding or decoding. This also enables customers to target Ultra SlowMotion and Multichannel applications, thanks to the processing capability of the codec that can reach 240fps in 1080p.
The new Virtex-6 & Spartan-6 based JPEG 2000 IP-cores will be available starting Q4 2009. The intoPIX JPEG 2000 SDK to assess this new Spartan-6 & Virtex-6 cores will be available in Q1 2010.
Specifications on the full range of JPEG 2000 IP solutions will be available at the intoPIX booth # 10.D29 (Hall 10) during the upcoming IBC 2009 Exhibition in September.
