Samsung Licenses Video System Solution IP from Silicon Hive
Fully programmable Video Signal Processor adds unprecedented flexibility and processing throughput running Full HD 1080p video codecs in software.
Eindhoven, The Netherlands -- November 24, 2009 -- Silicon Hive B.V. (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) announced today that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd licensed Silicon Hive’s HiveGo VSS3000 Video System Solution product.
Silicon proven HiveGo VSS3000 provides Full HD 1080p performance and decodes digital video up to 1920x1080 resolution level at 30 fps. It embeds various video decoders, fully in software, for various standard and proprietary video coding formats used in broadcasting, optical disks, and on the Internet.
“We selected the HiveGo VSS3000 product because it offers the unique combination of full programmability, high processing throughput required for Full HD 1080p video signal processing, and completeness as a sub-system that can be easily integrated in SoC designs. We look forward to further use Silicon Hive’s parallel processing technology in upcoming electronics products,” said KW Chun, Vice President Digital Media & Communication Business of Samsung Electronics.
This licensing agreement is another milestone for Silicon Hive. “We are excited by the opportunity to add value with our video system solution to Samsung, one of the leading electronic companies and consumer trend-setter. We are confident that this agreement will enable building a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Atul Sinha, C.E.O. of Silicon Hive.
HiveGo VSS3000 is a complete system solution IP and includes extensive buffering and caching capabilities to limit the system bus load. Complete software-based control of the buffers, caches, and system bus accesses further assists in tolerating system bus latencies. These characteristics enable seamless integration (‘drop-in’) of HiveGo VSS3000 into existing SoC designs.
