CEVA Partners with eyeSight to Offer Hand Gesture Recognition Solution on CEVA Multimedia Platform for Portable Devices
CEVA and eyeSight to demonstrate the technology live at CEVA DSP Technology Symposium in Tokyo, Japan, November 8
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Nov. 1, 2010 -- CEVA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CEVA); (LSE: CVA)], a leading licensor of silicon intellectual property (SIP) platform solutions and DSP cores, and eyeSight, a leader in software-based Touch Free Interface technologies for mobile phones and consumer electronics devices, today announced a partnership to offer eyeSight's Hand Gesture Recognition Technology on CEVA's portable multimedia platforms.
The partnership enables Touch Free user interface solutions for a range of portable multimedia devices, including smartphones, feature phones, tablets, eReaders, portable game consoles, digital picture frames, pico projectors, and more. The first live demonstration of this interactive technology will take place at the CEVA DSP Technology Symposium in Tokyo, Japan on November 8th.
eyeSight's technology powers hand gesture recognition for any camera-enabled device and enhances the user experience while operating devices and applications. These User Interface (UI) solutions enable consumers to use natural hand gestures to control devices. Hand gesture recognition technology is the latest addition to the broad range of video, audio and image enhancement software available for CEVA's multimedia platforms and further illustrates the extensive capabilities enabled for licensees of CEVA's fully programmable multimedia solutions.
"The unique combination of power efficiency and high performance of the CEVA-MM2000 proved an excellent technology to provide high recognition while keeping the power consumption to a minimum," said Itay Katz eyeSight's Founder & CEO. "The ability to offer our technology in partnership with CEVA will help further accelerate the adoption of hand gesture recognition technology into the mainstream and improve day-to-day interaction between consumers and their portable devices."
"Our partnership with eyeSight to bring hand gesture recognition capabilities to CEVA-MM2000 is testimony to the ease-of-programmability and versatility of our multipurpose solution," said Eran Briman, vice president of marketing at CEVA. "Differentiation is key to the success of high performance multimedia SoCs and our fully programmable plaftform enables our multimedia customers to achieve this through our CEVAnet partners such as eyeSight or to add their own proprietary software with minimal effort."
