Inicore Inc. Introduces VME System Controller Module Silicon IP Core
Newark, California, Nov. 10, 2010 – The silicon intellectual property (IP) and design service provider Inicore Inc., announced today the immediate availability of the VMESCmodule, a feature reach VME System Controller Module with slave and master capabilities.
Inicore's VMESCmodule is a VME to local bus bridge containing a VME slave with 4 memory window decoders, a VME master with integrated DMA engine, a programable VME interrupter supporting IRQ1-IRQ7 request levels, an autonomous VME interrupt handler, and a VME system controller. The system controller has a bus arbiter supporting prioritized and round-robin arbitration, a programmable bus timer, a system clock driver, a system reset driver, and an interrupt daisy-chain driver. System controller functionality can be enabled or disabled by using control inputs, or is automatically set when the controller is located in VME slot 1.
”Integrating the VMESCmodule silicon intellectual property core together with application specific logic inside an FPGA can mitigate technology obsolescence”, noted Daniel Leu, President and Chief Engineer. “FPGAs will become obsolete as well, but retargeting this technology independent core to the latest FPGA technology keeps your system going without the need of a big redesign.”
All these VME features are complemented by system features such as 4 32-bit mailboxes, 4 7-bit semaphores, interrupt controller, and configuration and status registers. A generic 32-bit wide user-side port connects to local registers and memories and provides access to the cores internal CR/CSR memory space.
With this reach feature set, the core can be used as a System Controller Module, as a Master Module, or as a Slave Module. This makes the VMESCmodule an excellent platform to base all your future VME designs on.
The core is supported by Inicore's technical staff which provides core customization and FPGA design services as well.
The core deliverables include synthesizable VHDL RTL code, self-verifying system-level verification environment, user documentation, simulation and synthesis scripts, technical support, and maintenance.
