Tatvik Announces High Performance VP8 Video Decoder Optimized For Cortex-A8 Using ARM NEON Technology

Tatvik Technologies, a provider of leading multimedia solutions for Mobile phones and handhelds, has started providing software VP-8 video decoder optimized for Cortex-A8 using ARM NEON technology. This is in addition to company’s existing efficient and world leading video codec solutions.
Google’s VP8 video is a part of WebM container format, which is targeted at providing multimedia to internet connected devices with HTML5 video. The availability of high performance VP8 video software decoder would enable early adoption of WebM as container format of choice for HTML5 video across different devices varying from Desktop PCs to Smart phones. Using NEON technology of Cortex-A8, Tatvik has achieved high performance of VP8 video decoding on Cortex-A8 based mobile devices, thereby delivering higher resolutions, higher frame rates and longer battery life.
