Alvand Technologies Forms Advisory Board To Guide Expansion
Stanford Professor and Semiconductor Industry Veteran Join New Board
Santa Clara, California (05 May 2011)-- Alvand Technologies, Inc. a leading analog and mixed signal IP provider, today announced the formation of an advisory board comprised of leading technologists from academia and industry. The board’s two inaugural members are Dr. Boris Murmann, Associate Professor in Stanford University’s Department of Electrical Engineering, and Tom Sparkman, President and CEO of Samplify. Mr. Sparkman is a respected industry executive with more than 20 years of experience leading global semiconductor organizations.
“Alvand is rapidly innovating as we continue to develop silicon IP for deep sub-micron designs,” explained Dr. Mansour Keramant, CEO and founder of Alvand Technologies. “As we innovate, we are also penetrating new markets and serving new customers. The counsel and insight of seasoned advisors--from both academia and industry--will help shape Alvand as we evolve. I am very pleased that Dr. Murmann and President Sparkman have agreed to join our new advisory Board.”
Prof. Murmann received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 2003. His research interests include mixed-signal integrated circuit design, with special emphasis on data converters and sensor interfaces. In 2008, Prof. Murmann was the recipient of the Best Invited Paper Award at the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC). In 2009, he received the Agilent Early Career Professor Award.
Dr. Murmann is a member of the International Solid-State-Circuits Conference (ISSCC) program committee, an associate editor of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society.
Prior to assuming his role as President and CEO of Samplify, Mr. Sparkman was a senior executive at Maxim Integrated Products, a $1.8 billion international supplier of analog and mixed-signal products. Tom’s 19-year tenure at Maxim included building the domestic and international sales organizations, including Maxim Europe. His most recent role was running the North American Sales and Applications organization, reporting directly to Maxim’s President. Tom holds a BSEE from the University of California at Berkeley.
