SAN DIEGO -- Hewlett-Packard is willing to license its WebOS environment to a limited number of key partners focused exclusively its mobile operating system. Jon Rubinstein revealed HP's willingness for limited WebOS licensing at the Qualcomm Uplinq event here.
"I think HP is more than willing to partner with one or two special companies—it's not a religious thing about [WebOS] being just an HP thing, but we're not interested in being a licensing company," said Rubinstein, a senior vice president at HP and former chief executive of Palm.
