Advantech has adopted Linear Tech's 'SmartMesh IP' wireless mesh technology for its M2.COM sensor platform.

M2.COM is an inter-company standard for wireless connectivity, in a physically interchangeable 22x30mm (M.2 standard) module with a standard edge connector to connect to the host sensor board. Each module has a radio, a microcontroller, and the interface for sensors.
The idea is that sensor makers can make a standard product, then slip the appropriate M2.COM module depending on which wireless networking standard it is expected to work with.
The list of companies signed-up to support M2.COM includes Advantech, Arm, Bosch Sensortec, Sensirion, and Texas Instruments.
