Media Links Launches New High-Density 3G-SDI / 3D / DVB-ASI IP Transmission Card Solutions Powered by intoPIX JPEG2000 Technology
intoPIX JPEG 2000 IP-Cores Enable Media Links to offer High Quality Solution for SMPTE 2022-1/2 over IP Standards
November 12, 2012 -- interBEE 2012, Japan – intoPIX, the leading provider of JPEG 2000 compression and security solutions, and Media Global Links, leading developer and manufacturer of broadcast network infrastructure solutions under the Media Links brand name, today announced that the Media Links MD8000 multi-port cards (Models MD8000-UVTX and MD8000-UVRX) have achieved top level performance and port density by integrating the intoPIX JPEG 2000 FPGA technology.
The new MD8000-UVTX/UVRX transmission cards are high-density and cost-effective solutions that support higher bit rate services across the MD8000 series of transport solutions. The boards are available in two versions; transmitting and receiving uncompressed or JPEG2000 SMPTE 2022 compressed signals. Each card offers 4 ports for the transmission of uncompressed video (3G-SDI/HDSDI/ SD-SDI), compressed video (JPEG 2000 up to 500Mbps) as well as DVB-ASI via 10G/1G Ethernet and SONET/SDH network infrastructures. The multi-format boards support either electrical or fiber connections, providing a straightforward path to SDI over fiber applications for long distance transmission. Additional functions include signal error correction, hitless switching and auto-protection switching, which come standard on all Media Links MD8000 video interfaces.
“We are proud to have been selected as a Media Links technology provider,” says Michael Van Dorpe, Director of intoPIX Japan (intoPIX-Island KK). “The Media Links MD8000 transports HD-SDI/SD-SDI/DVBASI signals over IP networks and through its smart and modular design, enables flexible, cost effective and high quality transport for contribution applications.”
“Our products are used by many global network providers, carriers and broadcasters and we selected intoPIX JPEG 2000 IP technology for our solutions so we can offer our customers a high performance, rich feature set, all on an extremely compact foot print and architecture,” comments Hiroaki Matsushima, General Manager of R&D at Media Global Links. “Our strategic technology partnership allows us to offer FPGA transmission and distribution solutions that are unique due to their integration with cutting-edge intoPIX IP cores. intoPIX’ expertise in JPEG 2000 algorithms enabled us to fine-tune our compression and transmission solutions to meet the challenges of our market and customers. Media Global Links will be showcasing the MD8000-UVTX/UVRX high-density 3G-SDI / 3D/ DVB-ASI IP Transmission Card Solutions powered by intoPIX JPEG2000 Technology at the interBee Show in Makahuri Messe, Japan, November 16-18, 2012 on booth 5308. The intoPIX team is also exhibiting its latest JPEG 2000 technology developments at interBEE, booth 6305.
